I need an outlet!

If ever you should see a lot of computer equipment surrounded by boxes of little flashing lights please, please, please do not think it is a waste of space. It is not okay to move it to the other side of the room so that you can squeeze in a filing cabinet or two.

It is SERVER. It runs all those little computers in the main room. It talks to the world - but sadly NOT ANYMORE.

I don't think I can hold myself together.

Update- PS: If it is locked away in a little room all on its own, there could be a very good reason.

Not Enough Days in the Week

Too many hours on my feet, too much online work - sat on my bum , too many assignments ...

Busy, busy, busy.

Northern Rail - Complaint

I tried to catch a train home from Blackpool this evening, but it all went pear-shaped. The train broke down whilst in the station. After a short time, they got us all off the train and put us on another one. Unfortunately, they forgot to tell the second driver which line to use and where he was supposed to stop!

Many of us were not amused. We had to travel to Preston and then catch another train ( a Blackpool train ) back down the line.

We are passengers - not yo-yos.

I used to have nightmares about trains not stopping. It is a good job that I have grown out of it.

Bluebell Hell

Last Saturday I made a trip to Spring Wood in Whalley. A friend had told me that the wood was carpeted with bluebells at this time of the year and that it is a popular location for photographers.

This was the first and last time I will ever head out to a popular photographic location. I wasn't prepared for it, and I found it mildly disturbing. Anyone would have thought that a massive sporting event was taking place. The car park was packed with cars and tripods, and I couldn't park up. If I had waited for a space and persisted with the idea of shooting these bluebells, I would have to have taken 6 or 7 shots just so that I could stack them together and mask out the photographers.

Silly me! I had planned a short relaxing walk through the woods but is wasn't to be.

Could there be a way round this? I wonder what bluebells look like when photographed at 2 am. When is the next full moon? Would anyone else be daft enough to visit the woods at 2 am?

Incidental Learning

A few days ago I would not have been able to identify a cuckoo flower or a dog violet. I think I should buy a book on British wild flowers. Perhaps, it would be a good idea to photograph as many wild flowers as possible.

I will try to get out at the weekend to photograph the bluebells.

The White Brolly

Sometimes, the simple things are so wonderful. Now that I have a white brolly, I can have soft beautiful light anytime anywhere - well, almost. The brolly also shields things from the breeze. Mustn't get my umbrella wet - I don't want to ruin it!

Practice Shots

Next course - Nature and Close-up Photography - Every Saturday in May.

Need to start work on this right away. I haven't got a super duper long lens so I have to sneak up on these tiny birds from behind. Not every shot works out, and I haven't managed to take the perfect shot, but I think my techniques are getting better. I am prepared to try almost anything, but I am not prepared to hang about in a hide wearing camouflage gear. I don't think we will be expected to do this on the course. :-)

Your Blog Type

at http://www.typealyzer.com/

This is what is says about me:

ESTP - The Doers

The active and playful type. They are especially attuned to people and things around them and often full of energy, talking, joking and engaging in physical out-door activities.

The Doers are happiest with action-filled work which craves their full attention and focus. They might be very impulsive and more keen on starting something new than following it through. They might have a problem with sitting still or remaining inactive for any period of time.

ESTP - The Doers

They are gregarious and action-loving and will probably make your date into a thrill. In relationships they often feel tremendously committed, but want that commitment to be renewed day by day. They tend to get bored easily, and may be prone to switching relationships frequently unless they find an outlet for their boredom elsewhere. Sexually they are more into enjoying the moment sensually than verbally.

"Get your kicks while you can!"

The Artisans loves real-life events that can be experienced here and now. Standing in the shouting crowd at a game is almost as fun as actually taking part in it! Personally they love action and will go boldly down roads that others consider risky or impossible. That´s why they will probably gravitate towards sports with tuff independent sportsmen and women. They´re always on the look-out for fun and playful ways to enjoy themselves together with friends.

Sports of preference:
Motor sports, Football, Boxing and other sports that gets the adrenaline pumping.

William Wordsworth

How exquisitely the individual Mind (And the progressive powers perhaps no less Of the whole species) to the external World Is fitted:—and how exquisitely, too,Theme this but little heard of among Men,The external World is fitted to the Mind;

And the creation (by no lower name
Can it be called) which they with blended might
Accomplish:--this is our high argument.

The Terrorism Act, Stop and Search, and Photography

The Terrorism Act 2000 does not prohibit people from taking photographs or digital images in an area where an authority under section 44 is in place. Officers should not prevent people taking photographs unless they are in an area where photography is prevented by other legislation.

The new guidelines, available at www.npia.police.uk/en/11700.htm, includes a section on photography (Section 2.8).
